DC Trip: See the Presidential Inauguration
Yes, that' right. It started as a funny idea, but looks like folks want to go!
How cool would it be to go to DC, see our nation's capitol, party and be a part of a Presidential Inauguration?
The actual Inauguration Day is Tuesday, January 20, 2009. If you would like to help ORGANIZE this, please let me know. We are looking into flights, hotels and even Amtrak.
You don't need to live in CHicago to be a part of this, either. I think it'd be terrific for ladies to meet up, witness history and meet new gals along the way.

So I looked into Amtrak...
Traveling from Chicago to DC, it's a 17 hour total trip (so overnight). Base rate starts at $78, but you can upgrade to a Superliner Roomette ($117 ) or Bedroom ($318). There is a 7 pm train that arrives in DC at 1 pm the next day.
I looked into flights, too. Rountrip from Chicago starts at $305 for direct flights and a little lower for flights with one stop.

I think a train ride would be a blast! Great way to see the country and the inauguration. Is everyone planning to go regardless of who gets elected? Or, are you waiting to see if your candidate wins!? :D
I think I'd like to go regardless. I just won't be as enthusiastic. How long would you want to stay?

I'd love to go and taking the train is much more affordable than I thought it would be!
I have a timeshare in Alexandria which I was hoping to book but it's already filled that week :( I'll keep my eyes open just in case there is a cancellation.

Going by train is also an eco-friendly way to go down there...come on, who doesn't want to play cards and act like we are living in the 50s and traveling cross country by train?
